Sunflowers (Detail)
Vincent van Gogh

This was a pretty straight forward puzzle. The vertical detail is interesting, but I prefer the full images more. I'm not sure which version of Sunflowers this is.

Sunflowers is one of Vincent van Gogh’s most celebrated series of still-life paintings, created in Arles, southern France, in 1888–1889. Van Gogh painted several versions of sunflowers in a vase, using brilliant shades of yellow to create a striking sense of warmth, light and vitality. The simple subject allowed him to explore colour and brushwork with great freedom, and the flowers range from fresh blooms to those beginning to wither, introducing a subtle theme of the passage of time.

The series was closely connected with Van Gogh’s artistic ambitions in Arles. He intended the paintings to decorate the Yellow House, where he hoped to establish an artistic community with fellow artists including Paul Gauguin.
