This was completed mostly by Leyla. A few pieces were damaged due to some misplaced pieces, but it's still a beautiful puzzle.
Angels in Garlands of Flowers is a delightful Baroque composition associated with the Roman painter Carlo Maratti, depicting playful winged putti amid luxuriant garlands of flowers. The youthful angels have the soft, idealized forms characteristic of Maratti's elegant late-Baroque style, while the surrounding flowers create an exuberant decorative frame. Roses and other blossoms wind around the figures in a celebration of color, abundance and heavenly joy. The combination of cherubic figures and lavish floral ornament reflects the taste for graceful, theatrical decoration that flourished in late-seventeenth-century Rome. Rather than presenting a narrative episode, the composition derives much of its appeal from the interaction between the animated little angels and the sumptuous natural forms surrounding them.
